Maths Welcome


We aim to:

  • Set challenging targets with high expectations of all pupils
  • Offer a variety of approaches to teaching and learning to engage and motivate pupils and demand their active participation
  • Smooth the transition for pupils between home and The Braybrook Centre to ensure progression in teaching and learning throughout their time with us
  • Explore enrichment opportunities outside the curriculum to enhance pupils’ enjoyment of Mathematics

Our Programme of Study for Key Stage 3 is organised into Algebra, Geometry, Statistics and Number.  Pupils should build on Key Stage 2 and connections across mathematical ideas to develop fluency, mathematical reasoning and competence in solving increasingly sophisticated problems.

Pupils should be able to:

  • Work at a range of levelsgraph
  • Extend knowledge or apply knowledge in new contexts
  • Work successfully when using different methods
  • Broaden their problem-solving skills
  • Deepen and broaden Mathematical content knowledge
  • See and make sense of underlying principles or make connections between different areas of Mathematics
  • Observe other people being mathematical or see the role of Mathematics within cultural settings
