On entry to the centre all pupils are given a baseline assessment which establishes their target grade for the end of their academic year. The target, termed ‘closing the gap’ is derived from a baseline assessment, Key Stage 2 data, FFT Aspire target and data provided by the referring school.
All subjects are regularly assessed using ‘Doddle’ and pupils receive feedback on a lesson by lesson basis. All marking assesses achievement and gives guidance on how to progress further.
Every half term teachers assess the pupils’ progress against their closing the gap target and using a skills based assessment on ‘Doddle’. Reports are issued to parents 6 times a year, usually at the end of each half term. There are also three parents’ evenings per year which enables parents to discuss any issues which have arisen from the reports.
